An Interview With Shari Anticknap

How I became a Nutrition & Weight Loss Specialist:

Although my life was good, my discontentment with my job was impacting my happiness, relationship, and health.  I was feeling as though there had to be more to life and that I was meant to be doing something different.  For years I tried to figure out what I should do.  Health and fitness was an area that I had always been interested in.  Growing up I was involved in all types of sports.  After graduating from high school I ended up teaching aerobics.  I enjoyed working out at the gym and the books I was read were health and nutrition related.  I just couldn’t seem to get enough of these types of books.

One day I was on my computer and decided to Google nutrition and wellness programs.  I didn’t want to go to University to become a Dietician because I believe in more of a holistic approach.  I came across The Canadian School of Natural Nutrition in Calgary and they offered a diploma program in Natural Nutrition.  I was so excited!!!  I went to the open house a few months later and shortly after arriving I knew I was in the right place, Nutrition was my calling.

I was brought up with the typical meat and potatoes diet that I’m sure many of you know well.  We ate very little fruits, vegetables or whole grains.  Breakfast was a processed sugary cereal with white toast.  Drink water, what was that??  Sure if I was out playing with my friends we’d grab the garden hose but that was about the extent of it.  I was overweight as a child, but my mother always told me I was “big boned”.  I remember telling her I wanted to go on a diet but it never happened.  I didn’t feel comfortable with my body and even though I was active I was always bigger than my friends.  I was embarrassed and some of the kids made fun of me.  The teasing definitely had an impact on my self confidence.  I understand what it’s like to be unhappy with the way you look and feel.  I also suffered from severe constipation thanks to the lack of fibre and water.  Over the years I’ve experienced my share of trials and tribulations.  The ongoing stress finally took its toll on my body in 2009.  I was diagnosed with Adrenal Exhaustion.  I suffered from severe fatigue, hormone imbalances, weight loss, heart palpitations, lack of concentration, disrupted sleep and much more.  I had seen many different health care professionals and nobody was able to help me.  The knowledge I gained by taking the Nutrition program definitely contributed to my recovery.  Knowledge is power and perseverance is a must, you can never give up on your health.  I believe that having my own health challenges was part of my journey to becoming a Nutrition Expert.  I can relate to others on a deeper level because of my own personal experiences.

As a result, I have decided to dedicate the rest of my career to helping people achieve their weight loss goals and share my knowledge of nutrition.  My program will give you the results you’ve always wanted, it’s easy to follow and based on healthy lifestyle changes.  If you are committed you will see immediate results.  I am a firm believer that nutrition is the key to preventing age related diseases.  Imagine what your life would be like if you looked fantastic and felt great.  We have the ability to live long, healthy and happy lives.  My goal is to help you achieve it! You make a life by what you do.  Decide today that you don’t just accept your life, but that you’ll lead your life
